What a fascinating backgorund! For someone so young, you have a wealth of talent and experiences under your belt! Cool!
Thanks for the feedback on the video. It was one of those things that had to be done, but as a self financed start-up.....having the financial resources to execute can be tough! I also had some "personal", and counter cultural to fashion industry reasons to do what I did.
I realize that there are a lot of women out there that are intimidated by fashion, clothes, accessories, the whole thing. I am tired of fashion resources "talking down" to plus women, or missing them altogher. I REALLY want a 'relationship" with my cusotmers, and to be able to build a business on what they want instead of the over edited assortments presented in the basement of traditional department store! OK. I am on my soap box! I'll get off!
So why did you walk away from Cello? Where was your lone carried? Tell me more?
Then tell me....with all your correspondent work, are you focused on the plus size customer?
Then on to writing and editing.....alas, something I am not that good at! This is why your profile stiked my interest. What I do really well is make high quality clothes that fit! The written pieces....well I just don't get the message out all that well. Then there is the whole SEO thing! Would love to chat with you further about these topics.
Then....can you introduct me to Mei? Don't know much about her or what she does?
Finally, the dog thing......think about it carefully! (Kidding, I love her!). She has been an amazing "cure" for many things in my life (workaholism). She was without a doubt the most difficult pup. Very curious and too much energy. I tried several training methods until I finally resorted to a K-9 coach that was an x-marine. It was one one one training (I think he trained me more than her!). What I discovered is that she is very intelligent, likes to be engaged in "jobs" and gets bored easily! (not unlike most of us). So now, we have routines that we go through daily with her chores. A walk is a min of 2.5 miles, often 5 miles a day. Our first one is @ 5:45 am, and we wrap up the day at a large park with a lake (where she goes for a dip). As a single, she is a great companion, and when I come home in the evening, has the power to make me foget everything about my day that stunk!
So when you are ready......I say go for it! And I highly recommend rescues. I have several neighbors that have adopted from a Lab rescue in Kentucky and have the most amazing furry friends in their home!
Anyway, Have a happy 4th, and lets chat more about your writing profession when you have a minute.
BAH
Just got your message and also took a moment to view your 'behind the scenes' video. Excellent job.
I styled a plus size segment earlier in the year for E! Entertainment at the SAG awards, we did some 'behind the scenes' video as well. Alas it's still tied up in legal.... typical! Anyway, I love what you've accomplished with yours.
Now onto what you wanted to chat about and a little about me:
Writing? I'm a writer and editor now. Also do a good deal web media and marketing on and off the Web.
Fashion? I designed and manufactured a plus line in the 90's called Cello. It had an incredible run!
More recently I covered plus style for New York Times subsidiary, about.com. Mei (who's in here somewhere) is now the plus size guide over at about. If you haven't talked to her and let her know about your line, you should!
Occasionally you can find me commentating on The TODAY Show and elsewhere, covering fashion and body image for e-v-e-r-y body.
The rest of the time I keep myself busy writing on many of my passions via several websites and blogs. And, finally, I've been exercising my inner artist and outer marketing brain, learning to design pretty websites that rank well with search engines.
In truth I'm envious of your photos... b/c I wish I had a dog!
Okay that oughtta be more than you wanna know.
Your turn!
