Before Christmas Lane Bryant introduced Right FIT jeans to much fanfare. What was not really talked about that much was the technology that went behind the creation of the three categories of jeans.
Source
"Lane Bryant has introduced a new line of Right Fit jeans based on scans of 14,000 customers. The data collected from the scans showed that a customer with a 34 i…

Always in style... always classic... Our newest style comes in one of my personal favorite classic color combinations - black n' white - in a silky-soft and sexy material - very cute and feminine style with halter ties around the neck for a customized fit - What I especially love about this style is the versatility to easily go from work to a night out on the town. Wear a bolero or shrug over it for work - Wear it alone for a night out.
A great addition to your spring wardrobe! Whether work or…

I am proud to say we have added a gorgeous pink hanger to our line. We are waiting for the new pics to arrive on the website, but Pink is now available!! Have you done your after the holidays closet organizing yet? Now is the time to dig in there and get rid of the old clothes that either don't fit now, won't fit soon, or haven't fit in a very long time. My closet was FULL of those choices so I re - organized and now it looks great. I went with all pink, and gave my husband all black. The closet…

I'm seeing a trend, my fellow Fashionistas. Scattered out and around the internet universe, circling like malevolent meteorites (meteoroids?) and seemingly incapable of coalescing to a coherent shout.
Many of us complain about not being able to find plus size apparel, fashionable or otherwise. Many rant, many rave, many pose the problem, many propose solutions - goodness knows there are dozens of sites that position plus size retailers within easy view (mine included, I hope).
We New Normals a…

Woke up this morning to a winter wonderland... It sure was pretty -- It snowed most of the day... We got almost 10 inches and then it turned to sleet and freezing rain... Our lil' town is quite interesting... When it snows... you will find cars on the road along side of snowmobiles zipping around... and then the snow plows get out there in the mix and it can be quite the show watching them all try to dodge each other. Me, personally... I try not to get out there in that stuff... I will sit and w…

Since the Stylefeeder.com direct widget doesn't seem to behave with Safari, I attempted to place the Widgetbox.com version - I have my Stylefeeder membership active so that step is out of the way. Let's see how this does.
Well, the short answer is.. it doesn't. I used the Widgetbox export to Ning, copied in the code at the top of this post, and published. No widget. In…

I just recently discovered that jeans are now made with spandex in them. No joke! I haven't worn a pair of jeans in over 10 years because they were too uncomfortable. So, I've been wearing elastic waist pants only. So, you can imagine how excited I was when I learned this news. I was eager to go to the stores and try some on. Thinking wow, now I can find that perfect pair of jeans the fashion experts say are such a staple in a woman's wardrobe.
Well, by the time I left the 7th store and tried o…

In this weekend's People magazine interview, Kelly LeBrock states that she's okay with a curvier body. This is a person who was well known for her size-2 state in movies like Weird Science and The Woman in Red, and who just two years ago practically starved herself to death to attain a 31 pound weight loss on Celebrity Fit Club. That she has 'seen the light' and gone public with her vow to 'never diet again' speaks volumes toward inner peace.
Now, this is what I would call a positive role model…

2/5/08 - Call to Arms: I'm looking for 10-25 PSWSC members / business owners who wish to have some very high visibility for their own business website at Perfectly Shaped World by becoming PSW Contributors (NOT a link exchange - MORE visible by far than that).

One morining, while driving into work, I had an idea about wanting to do something on the web. I didn't know what that something was, but it felt like a bit of a driving force. A few minutes before arriving to the campus, it hit me: an advice column! I could take the things in my life -- good, bad, and indifferent -- and apply it to help others in need of advice.
About ten minutes be…

This xlhanger goes beyond the closet. It has a multitude of uses, my favorite being organization of my table lines. We are nearing Easter, and like many of you, I have a beautiful table cloth that I use at this time of year. I used to store all my linens in drawers in an extra dresser that I keep in my basement. They were all jammed in there and the one I needed was always at the bottom, and so wrinkled I usually had to rewash it and iron it to bring some lfe back. Now I store everything on xlha…

In my opinion, Tim Gunn is the Alex Trebek of Fashion. Erudite and distinguished, with the ability to relate to anyone he encounters, and far from stand-offish. I've talked about his TV show, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style, in past blog entries, where we've focused on his list of essentials and shown how you can work that list to fine-tune your own wardrobe. Today's show brought those fashion elements together, along with a Life Stylist to help the show's featured guest recognize the obstacles in her…

The reason we invented this hanger was to solve a big bumpy problem with clothing. We searched everywhere to find a hanger that would not leave those ugly hanger marks on clothing. My husband invented this XL hanger to take care of the problem. He started with a pizza box to make a template. After finding the basic shape he made a prototype out of wood and eventually decided plastic would the most durable and strongest. This hanger does its job and hangs clothing beautifully.…

I've become a complete and total fan of
What Not To Wear.
When I watched this show the first few times, I cringed, more at the way the co-hosts treated their fashion victims than at the fashions themselves. He's snide; she's acerbic; they're both brutal and sarcastic. But what finally hooked me was watching an entire episode from start to finish, and seeing that, despite their own personal styles, the advice is sol…

This makes me almost sad. A major national magazine, amidst subtle gasps and sideways glances, inking the revelation of using real people in ads.
Newsweek's full article includes a telling sentence: "Fashion-industry folks say the trend of using real people to sell clothes attests to a fatigue with skinny, expressionless models in ads and on runways." Something tells me that we real people still have a lot of work to do and that a lot of wake-up ca…

1/26 - I feel like Alice falling down the rabbit hole in here. Every time I turn around, I collide into yet another bit of conflicting data regarding plus size apparel sizing. 1/25 - the investigation begins, on my quest to answer the niggling question: What Size are You?
Where am I going and why?
This quest actually started several months ago, when I launched the Personal Shopper feature at Perfectly Shaped World, and discovered that, even though I was selecting items of a specific size range, they weren't -the right size-.
Since I never meet my clients in person, my accuracy is based entirely on the ability to get the right data before I begin my fashion hunt. T…
